Located in the listed old Lock Keepers Cottage our rooms have been lovingly restored to enable us to offer you the best stay in Newark, a bold claim you may think? Our location is the only place you can stay in Newark that really is next to the Newark Trent Lock. Our rooms by the river give you the opportunity to sit and watch the boats make their way through the historic locks in an area conserved so the future will always remember the past. Look one way and you will see Newark Castle, look the other and you will see the boatyard and the Trent Navigation, look over the river to Riverside Park the venue for our annual Newark Festival but also to host to beer festivals and re enactments celebrating Newarks unique links to the Civil War. A short stroll into Newark itself gives you the opportunity to explore the castle, take a boat ride along the Trent, visit the National Civil War museum and any one of our national and independent retailers. If food and drink is your thing, we have a thriving real ale scene with a number of pubs in the Good Beer Guide and a great variety of different foods from around the world. In the summer we open our downstairs cafe The Old Lock House to give you even more opportunity to sit and watch the world go by..
